Our client is a leader in the steel industry. With a national presence and great growth prospects this company is well positioned in today's market.
Due to expansion of its IT team there is a new position for a Ruby on Rails developer. In this role you will be responsible for the full SDLC from the conceptual phases through, design, development and implementation. Applications are a variety of internal web and unix systems / network applications to support both end users and network engineers. Applications are also heavily integrated, knowledge of this is highly desirable.
Successful Candidate will posses:
Solid OO development experience
2 years programming with new generation languages. Ideally Ruby PHP etc
Web application development experience
Experience with Linux or Unix based systems (Ubuntu/Debian/Freebsd)
Previous experience implementing Open Source applications or contributing to open source projects
Experience with Scripting languages such as Bash, SH, or ZSH
Basic understanding of:
HTTP and TCP/IP networking
revision control systems (experience with Git preferred)
contemporary / agile development practices
SQL (preferably some PostgreSQL experience)
