Silicon Valley wages, is based here in Santa Cruz California, has a product that is truly creating meaningful change in this world, and is now growing quickly having locked in some very large enterprise clients.

We need a FULL TIME HIRE Front End Web Application Developer with Ruby on Rails experience who has built both front end AND back end production code. Someone who hits all the marks on the front end side of things will work just as well. Looking to make the hire before the end of the month and need someone who can say YES to ALL and not just some of the Required Skills on the front end side of things listed below.

Required Skills:

FRONT-END STUFF

- Up to date and top notch HTML/CSS skills, ability to translate complex interfaces into smart, clean, cross-browser layouts

- Strong javascript coding skills, especially with jquery, including:

* interaction with Facebook's APIs, and OpenSocial as well

* Overall, building smooth UIs using a combination of JS, Ajax, and

HTML/CSS

- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, and using a source code control system

would be great, specifically:

* ability to run a local development environment with Ruby running

* understanding of the HAML and SASS HTML and CSS templating systems

* knowledge of the Git version control system

Desired skills:

BACK-END STUFF

- Strong knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails programming, with a keen eye for well tested, clean, and organized code

- we're using Rspec for our test suite, but a familiarity with Cucumber would be great

- Our single code-base is served up in multiple places, including:

* an FBML-based Facebook application (using the Facebooker gem)

* an OpenSocial application (currently in Ning, but with plans to go elsewhere that OpenSocial is supported)

* embeddable widgets, heavily JS-driven, and including Facebook Connect in-widget

* A REST-based API that is young but starting to be used more

* The main Zazengo.com website, which also incorporates some Flash tools that read data from an XML interface. The website runs on multiple subdomains, each with their own skins (CSS/color-schemes)

- Experience with the issues that arise when scaling a Ruby on Rails application, including code and query optimization, adding a caching layer using Memcached, running background jobs asyncronously

- Strong knowledge of using version control tools, ideally Git

- Somebody with server management skills would be a great bonus,

especially Nginx and Phusion Passenger
