We’re looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to take on the role of Senior Developer at HowAboutWe.Com.
Who we are
HowAboutWe.Com is a new kind of online dating site. People say “How about we…” and fill in the dots with the dates they want to go on. Our site is more fun, more creative, more positive, and much cooler than pretty much everything out there. We’re located in New York City. Check out http://bit.ly/bOC5Iy for recent media coverage.
Who we’re looking for
• A top-notch Ruby developer. Please do not apply unless you are a skilled, fast Ruby developer.
• HTML/CSS skills would be a huge plus.
• Someone with a data-driven mind-set who understands and can get behind the core goal of driving traffic (lots of it!).
• Someone who knows how to work with other people, particularly smart non-tech people who know what they want but have no idea how to technologically make it happen.
• Someone who is willing to work very hard to make our product awesome. Start-up experience (or the desire for it) is necessary.
• Someone fun and perhaps even cool – who implicitly gets the ethos of creativity, positivity, and delight behind our site.
• Someone with strong drive and ambition who is excited to join a small team in an early stage start-up.
What’s involved
We launched the beta sign-up process on Valentine’s Day 2010. The full site is set to launch in mid-March and we are looking for someone to take over in-house development. Responsibilities:
• Overseeing all technological aspects of HowAboutWe.Com. (The site includes, for all intensive purposes, a similar set of functions to other internet dating and event sites-- social networking features, a recommendation algorithm, a subscription system, an event database, etc.)
• Implementing on-going iterations, A/B testing, new functionality, etc.
• Executing technologically-driven marketing campaigns
• Overseeing site analytics.
• Project managing any necessary tech outsourcing/contracting.
Additional possibilities include:
• Application development for facebook and other social networks
• Oversight of smart phone application development

Location: We’re in NYC. Our offices are in Dumbo (Brooklyn, F Train). We may consider, in exceptional cases, someone who does not live in NYC.
