Senior Software Engineer

Description

This position is new development throughout the role. We're looking for a mature software engineer with 5+ years of experience developing Web applications. Looking for at least 2-3 years of pure Ruby on Rails experience. Job requires strong client contact and communication skills. We are looking for candidates that know Ruby on Rails cold and are very comfortable talking and working in depth with it. This engineer will be responsible for helping to gather technical requirements from both business and technical users, implement custom solutions where necessary, help educate customers, and work to transform custom solutions into core components where possible. Must be comfortable with helping with and driving technical requirements sessions and working with business stakeholders. Work will be done in Ruby on Rails, some Java.

Skills

• Experience building high-scale consumer-facing web applications including demonstrated excellence in Ruby on Rails development experience and deep knowledge of database technologies.

• Understanding of XML/JSON based RESTful/SOAP APIs.

JSON and experience with Webservices is more important.

• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, and a desire to want to learn more and share knowledge with others

• Ability to influence behavior with resources not under direct control by effective communication

• Ability to plan and manage in a rapidly changing environment

• Strong analytical skills

• CSS & HTML proficiency a plus

• Javascript experience a plus

• Java, JSP, JavaEE a plus.

• Understanding of cross-site scripting (XSS) and other client-side vulnerabilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science/ related subject matter or equivalent work experience
