Sonian is looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented individual who will be responsible for designing and developing the user interface for a complex and highly distributed cloud-based application. The candidate for this position will come with a deep knowledge of web-based user interface technologies, including Ruby on Rails and AJAX, and an eye for user experience. You will be joining a fully remote team, so location is not essential.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver features that meet the business needs of our customers while maintaining a state of the art user experience

Support delivering software that supports a highly available, fault tolerant SaaS application

Produce high quality software designs to support long term maintainability and extensibility of code

Produce high quality and well-documented code

Deliver within an existing Agile methodology

Leverage RoR technologies such as RSpec and Cucumber to support Test Driven Development

Comfortably develop in a Mac and Linux environments

Requirements

8+ years commercial software development experience, with at least 4+ years delivering user interfaces for web-based application

2+ years production Ruby on Rails development

Distributed source control experience with Git

Strong organizational skills

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills

Good understanding of Software as a Service and “white-labeled” Rails apps

Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with Javascript, including jQuery and Ext JS

Proven track record building high-performance enterprise-grade systems that scale

Familiarity with cloud based offerings like Amazon’s EC2 & S3 or Rackspace Cloud

US-based, capable of working in remote team

Bonus: Familiarity and knowledge of Erlang & Clojure
