To support our ambitious growth, we are looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer who will thrive in a start-up environment. We are looking for a hands-on person who takes pride in

developing useful, innovative and scalable web applications. Your main tasks will be to work alongside our Business teams to develop new features and functionality and continually improve existing parts of our product, services and infrastructure. You will take an active part in coming up with new ideas, and discussing specifications and implementation approaches.

You will want to apply your expertise and build from the ground up flexible well-architected systems in an agile and dynamic way. Along the way you’ll be able to build a technical team.

You are the kind of person that can work independently if needed but you are also a strong team player. You will be part of a small but focused team. You will be

able to coach and develop other developers on the team whom you will hire and then lead.

Over time, this role has the opportunity to become a CTO role depending on the ambition and capability of the candidate and the growth of the business.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders and team members to contribute to and review requirements and specifications

• Based on business requirements provide estimates for future tasks and projects

• Translate requirements and specifications into logical, clean, scalable technical designs

• Contribute to advancing the team’s design methodology and practices

• Recruit and then lead a small team of developers to work in-house

• Fix bugs to existing services, software and applications

• Maintain effective source code revision control, back-up, roll out and development / production environment infrastructure

• Keep up to date with new developments and proactively suggest improvements regarding technology, standards, best practices

The ideal candidate will have...

- Ruby on Rails, MySQL (required, extensive experience)

- Practical experience in Test Driven Development (required)

- Exposure to APIs of Google, Facebook, Twitter (desirable)

- Solid understanding of web design and web development involving JavaScript/AJAX, accessible HTML layout using structured mark-up and style sheets (essential)

- Working with commercially driven website(s) (desirable)
