We are seeking a passionate, talented developer, to join our friendly, relaxed Sydney office and contribute to new and existing Rails applications.

The role

Job Futures was one of the earliest adopters of Rails. You will be working in a small team and will work to design, develop, test and deploy new functionality of web applications to meet the changing needs of the organisation. There are no shopping baskets here... you'll be solving interesting and business specific problems using the best tools available to you.

What we’re looking for

This is a full time permanent position with immediate start. Ideally we are seeking an experienced developer with knowledge of Ruby on Rails, but most importantly we are seeking a talented and dynamic person with practical development experience, good communication skills, and strong problem solving abilities.

A highly regarded applicant will possess the following:

Essential:

6 months+ experience in Ruby on Rails

Experience building web applications (in any programming language)

Familiarity with javascript, HTML, CSS and development of web-based user interfaces

Good skills in OO modelling and design

Competent knowledge of SQL

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Self motivated and able to prioritise tasks

Enthusiastic and proactive approach with good attention to detail

Desirable:

Links to technical blog and/or github profile

BDD / TDD experience ideally with RSpec

Good knowledge of Unix operating systems

Familiarity with Git

Familiarity with or interest in agile development practices

Project management

Remuneration

Negotiable based on experience & skill level. As we are a non-for-profit organisation PBI tax benefits may apply.
