This person will be part of the development team; designing and implementing user interfaces for open-source and proprietary web applications.

Essential Function:

• Writing front-end code in Ruby, Semantic XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• To identify, create, and implement radiant/functional UI design.

• Implement new features and optimize existing ones.

• Understanding of browser compatibility issues that currently exist on the web today.

Required Qualifications:

• Fluent in Web Standards for XHTML, CSS, and DOM-Scripting is required.

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.

• Development in Ruby on Rails and/or other Open Source technologies preferred.

Given that Ruby on Rails is rather new, extensive experience developing web applications in other languages can be substituted as long as a strong desire to work in Ruby exists.

• Experience with Linux/Unix is required.

• Up to date knowledge of Semantic markup, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, and web accessibility.

• Proof of relevant experience; portfolios, web page links, work examples are strongly encouraged.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
