ooma™ is a well-funded consumer voice over IP (VoIP) startup company located in Palo Alto, CA.
We’re looking for an expert front-end web application developer that will lead the design and implementation of ooma’s next generation web telephony applications and services. Specifically, we’re looking for someone who has a strong background in Ruby on Rails or other similar frameworks.

Job Responsibilities:
- Design, code, and maintain ooma’s next generation customer portal, optimizing for rapid development and end-user performance
- Work with product and operations teams in all aspects of the development lifecycle, including requirements review, design, coding, implementation and testing optimization
- Implement and maintain product activation, customer portal, e-commerce purchases and web-based IP telephony features (examples include web voicemail, click-to-call and mobile integration)
Required skills:
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Related Field
- 2+ years of experience architecting and implementing applications using a well-known web framework (Ruby on Rails, CakePHP, etc)
- Expert in one or more JavaScript frameworks/toolkits (ex: jQuery, script.aculo.us, Dojo, YUI, Google Web Toolkit, etc)
- 5+ years of software web development experience in HTML, Javascript, CSS and in at least one Web Scripting Language (PHP, Ruby, Perl, etc)
- Extensive experience working with Web Services (XML, SOAP, DOM, etc)
- Master of object-oriented design methodology and software design
- Strong familiarity working in linux environments
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills in English
- Firm grasp of MySQL, including experience writing optimized MySQL queries
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, mission-critical software products
- Guiding customer focus with a near-obsessive attention to detail
- Prior experience working in Agile, Scrum, XP, or related Teams
Desired skills:
- Exposure to Voice over IP Web Services, Applications or Frameworks
- Prior experience developing social networking applications
