Democracy for America is seeking a creative online programmer to support our online organizing and fundraising. This position will entail creation, administration and troubleshooting of our grassroots organizing software and its 100,000+ users. The ideal candidate is a talented engineer as well as an inventive self-starter with a passion for using technology to organize.

• Demonstrated ability to build internet scale web applications with Ruby on Rails or equivalent

frameworks

• Practical experience with a relational database

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript

• Experience with a source control system like Git or Subversion

• Excellent oral and written technical communications skills – able to translate technical challenges

and opportunities to English for colleagues with far less understanding of industry terms

• End-user helpdesk experience

• Team Player – enthusiastically pitches in to help a fellow staffer

• Strong project management skills
